- Following our recent 5 night stay at the Castle Hotel, we wish to express our appreciation and thanks for the excellent service we received which made our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. We have holidayed in Ireland for the past three years and this was the best yet. We have never experienced such pleasant, kind and helpfull staff. The value provided to both families with the inter-connecting rooms was fabulous - I must thank you for that. We are definites to return next year and I hope you will keep us appraised of similar deals for next summer. Last but not least we found Macroom to be friendly and an ideal base for exploring West Cork and Kerry (we visited Cork city, Killarney, Clonakilty, Kinsale and Carrigaline) and we also got in a round of golf in Macroom golf club.
Well done to all and we look forward to returning next summer. - The staff are the making of this lovely hotel! We had the pleasure of a two night stay this week and it was a lovely experience. From the minute we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. The food is outstanding with an extensive breakfast menu and fabulous evening dining. Pancakes for breakfast and tiger prawn skewers for dinner were to die for. Thank you. Sometimes I have amazing adventures, sometimes not. Eating gluten-free can be a challenge, as well.
One of my favorite things to do is to just go for a drive and see what interesting things we can find, no agenda, no plans....this trip, however, was proving to be quite disappointing. But then we decided to stop and eat at the Castle Hotel in Macroom, Co. Cork, Ireland. It was absolutely delightful. They had a wonderful gluten-free menu and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious! I usually can't have soups at restaurants because they are thickened with flour, but here I had an excellent cream of mushroom soup. My main course was grilled shrimp skewers
with a sweet chili sauce. I find it hard to believe and nothing short of amazing, but the gluten free menu included desserts other than ice cream! Sticky-toffee-pudding no less! mmmmmmmmmmmm........we shall return! And best of all, prices are very reasonable. Highly Recommended!

- The food is fabulous! We had dinner on the night we arrived and I was surprised by the lovely menu choices. I thoroughly enjoyed what I had and the tase of everything from starter to dessert was truly delicious! The service was fast, friendly and efficient too. The breakfast is to die for! There are the usual juices, cereals, fruit salads, nuts, etc. but the choice of hot food is unbelievable. I just had to have the pancakes with cripy bacon and maple syrup! I found the service from start to finish friendly, helpful and efficient. They obviously have a fantastic chef. The hotel has a lovely little coffee shop to the front which is open to the public but could be useful to pass an hour or two with your favourite book if the weather wasnt great. Forgot to mention the leisure centre. We used this for a gym and swim session. This hotel is big on service and food and I would give it 5* for those two very important aspects of any stay. - Our stay in the Castle Hotel and Leisure Centre in the town centre turned our short break in the locality into a memorable experience. The staff in the hotel made us feel valued; they gave us the feeling that they wanted us to have an enjoyable time there. The food in the restaurant and bar was first-class. They have a dedicated gluten free menu for dinner and also for breakfast which we think is very unusual. The food itself was magnificent and there was a wonderful choice also. We have stayed in many places and we have never come across a special coeliac friendly menu before. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy, while the staff were ever so friendly and helpful.It really made our break so enjoyable and relaxing. We couldn't recommend The Castle Hotel in Macroom highly enough and we hope this recommendation is a help to all who may be interested in staying there or perhaps passing through as it is on the main Cork - Killarney road. - We stayed in The Castle Hotel for a wedding and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were great and really made us feel welcome. We arrived early and were allowed check in that morning. This was typical of our experience in the hotel, all the staff were helpful and friendly. - I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You to everyone who made us feel so welcome and looked after us so well over the weekend, especially Kay in reception. My mother was over the moon to see us all and she certainly enjoyed her stay at the Castle as did we all. She will never forget her 70th! The food was absolutely gorgeous, no one wanted to leave the hotel to eat elsewhere! The rooms were lovely and the service from everyone was great. The birthday cake was beautiful and so light, it went down a treat. My mother, being a coeliac needs to be careful with what she eats but she felt so relaxed
in the knowledge that the food was ok for her. Once again, thank you for organizing everything for me and I look forward to another visit to the Castle Hotel in the future. - Dear Don, Ger, families and the staff of the Castle Hotel,
I don't know how you continue to get better and better every year at the Castle Hotel. Your staff is the most amazing assembly of personnel I have ever watched work. They really seem to enjoy their jobs and go out of their way no matter what the requests are. From way back in June when Rachael and I started booking the rooms to the hustle and bustle of getting the gang on the road last Sunday, your staff stood by smiling and understanding. I owe a huge thank you to Elish for her understanding when we had a misunderstanding when settling the Shannon room bill. She is ACES and one of the best front desk persons anyone could wish for. John Paul now has us all saying Rory who ? He was like a conductor of a fine symphony on the night of the gala. He stood there in the midst of what could have been mass confusion and directed everything (in two separate rooms) with a knowing nod and smile !!! As always Billy and Eileen were welcome smiles and knowing service at the bar as well as the addition of Chris and the other bartenders and servers. Theresa and the house keeping staff were AMAZING !! To turn the rooms over EVERY DAY and somehow read our minds on what we needed. Mikey and Anthony are the two most understanding and amazing night porters in the world. Some nights the lobby calmed down as breakfast was being served and they still were asking if they could serve us. NONE of this happens by chance. It takes a string, service concerned ownership that cares equally about their staff and their guests. The Castle Hotel is the GOLD STANDARD for hotels that I have visited through out the world (I have been to 14 different countries and countless states here in the US). The chef's and cooks in your kitchen are amazing artist's in their own right. The food is always fresh, delicious and served with the flare of a 5 star restaurant. Please thank every member of your staff for another amazing week and we are looking forward to bringing our own special kind of "holiday" fun back to Macroom and the Castle Hotel in March 2010 !!!

- Having just spent three wonderful days at your hotel, my husband and myself had to congratulate you on the exemplary service given by all the staff in The Castle Hotel. From the time we arrived and were so warmly greeted by Joy, to the friendliness and interest shown by Pat each morning at breakfast, the service shown by Denise in the lounge, the good humour of all the ladies servicing the rooms and finally to the lovely lady who booked us out this morning. Each and every member of staff we met over the time was really friendly, sincere and a pleasure to meet. It was interesting that one staff member mentioned that 'it comes from the top' and it appears all the staff are happy in their jobs and their bosses are highly thought of - customer service does begin from the top and it has to be said the individual service given to each resident far excelled our experience of worldwide hotel visits. We are proud to say the best hotel experience to date has to be The Castle Hotel.

The rooms were very spacious, leisure centre very good but most of all the food was excellent (restaurant is lovely) and the staff (all of them )were extremely friendly and courteous(especially Micky, the night porter!). This is the best hotel we have stayed in, courteous staff & excellent service, we'll all be returning - Bernadette & Ken Barry. - We just got back from our honeymoon and had to thank you and the entire staff of the Castle Hotel for making our wedding magical. From the moment we contacted you last March you were there for us 100 percent and any request that we had you immediately answered "no problem", including heart shaped/sweet heart tables! We know that since we wanted things done differently than your "typical" Irish wedding it must have posed a challenge to your staff but all of out little touches turned out better than we could have ever imagined, thanks to you and the Castle Hotel staff. The staff at the front desk could not have been more accommodating and helpful, not only to us, but to our guests who needed taxis booked, suggestions on where to sightsee for the day or to get their hair done before our wedding. It was also very thoughtful of you to have packed lunches ready for our guests who were leaving at half three in the morning since they would be missing breakfast. Everyone from abroad thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We even had Irish people who live down the road say they had passed the hotel many times but had never realized how wonderful the food was there or the hospitality of the staff.
