RECIPE FOR CASTLE HOTEL BROWN BREAD
INGREDIENTS
3/4 LBS. COARSE GROUND BROWN FLOUR
1/2 LBS. WHITE FLOUR
1 TEACUP OF BRAN
I TEACUP OF WHEATGERM
I TEACUP OF PINHEAD OAT MEAL (PORRIDGE)
A LITTLE BROWN (SOFT) SUGAR (Up to 1/2 Cup)
1 TEASPOON BREAD SODA
1 PINT OF BUTTERMILK
1/2 CUP OF FLORA OIL [SUNFLOWER]
1 TEASPOON OF SEASEME SEEDS (OPTIONAL)
METHOD
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl except for bread soda.
Sieve the bread soda into mixed ingredients. Make a well in the centre.
Mix Flora Oil and Buttermilk and add to dry ingredients until the mixture is good and wet.
Grease bread tins. Put the mixture in tins and bake in an
oven @ 150C for 1 - 1 1/4 hours.
Sprinkle top with seasame seads (optional).
